Agent speaks... Nick Moore, Cluttons

By Mark Kebble on November 19th 2010

How long have you been based in Islington?

“Our office has been open in Islington for nearly four months now and the welcome that we have received from local residents has truly exceeded our expectations. I started my career in Islington and have been working in and around the area for nearly 12 years, so long in fact that it really does feel like home.”

What do you like about working in Islington?

“Islington is such a vibrant and dynamic area. With its shops, bars, restaurants, theatres and green spaces the area continues to go from strength to strength. Couple this with a diverse range of housing stock, there literally is something for everyone.”

How has 2010 been for you?

2010 has been a fantastic year so far. We have seen a wholesale return of buyers to the market, signalling a much needed return of confidence. However, the market is suffering from a real scarcity of good quality stock across the price ranges, which presents a challenge for anyone looking to buy, as demand is far outstripping supply. Anyone looking to sell can be assured of achieving an excellent price within a very reasonable time frame.”

In an area where there are many Estate Agents, what makes Cluttons so different?

Cluttons was established in 1765 and has a network of offices across the UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific, South Africa and the Caribbean. We strive to combine integrity and energy with experience and expertise. Our clients come to Cluttons because of the firm’s reputation; they stay because they receive a quality and style of personal service that they cannot find elsewhere. In Islington we have a fantastic team of people with many years of property experience delivering the very best advice in a professional yet un-stuffy way.”

It’s been a difficult year, but has Islington bucked the falling house price trend?

“Very much so. In many ways, Islington can be viewed as a micro market within the larger London market. That’s not to say that it was unaffected by the recession, but it bounced back to form far quicker than many other parts of Central London following the downturn in 2008 and for every year that passes, Islington becomes more and more popular.”

Are you optimistic for 2011?

We are extremely optimistic about the market next year. We have seen new buyers come back to the market in large numbers over the course of this year and with low stock levels likely to continue in to 2011, there seems little chance of the market abating. We will continue to offer our 0.75% sales fee to vendors in the New Year and look forward to meeting many more Islington residents in the year to come.”
