Archos 101 Internet Tablet
By Fiona Keating on May 31st 2011
The Archos is certainly a contender against the IPad, with its large high-resolution 10.1’’ screen, a weight of 480 g, and a thinness of just 12 mm. It’s got everything you’ll need for life on the move including instant messaging, 3D games, newspapers, video chatting.
Working on the go is pretty straightforward. Just plug your mobile phone equipped with 3.5 G & Bluetooth technology, simply pair it up to your ARCHOS 101 internet tablet via Bluetooth or even via USB cable. This will give you easy access to Internet directly on your device anytime and anywhere.
The IPad’s apps are reckoned to be the best, but on the Archos you tap the Appslib icon on the home screen which takes you to a large choice of Android™ apps library on the web to download. The best ones to choose from are the ebooks section, games such as Angry Birds.
Transferring files is easy as there’s a USB connector on the side of the device to let you transfer all your multimedia content. There is also a USB host connector to directly transfer your files without using a PC.
Unfortunately as with many tablets, the Archos built-in keyboard is not for touch typists or particularly user friendly if you need to type out lengthy pieces of text. You’ll have to buy an external keyboard, but as these are priced around £25, it’s not painful to swallow the cost.
In all, the Archos 101 is a pretty potent tablet with a nice price too, costing around £249 for the 16gb model.
