Spooky surprise

I know people say it’s become very American, with a whole host of industries such as fancy dress, spooky sweets and gimmicky menus with witches’ eyeballs and gory cocktails called Vomit Vodka.

What I like are the classic ghost stories by authors like Wilkie Collins or Bram Stoker’s Dracula. This year I’m planning on partaking in a ghostly evening walk, which will probably scare the living daylights out of me. But surely this is more exciting than a night in front of the TV wishing it was still summer.

I was looking for a Halloween outing in this neck of the woods and came across an intriguing offer from, of all places, the London Canal Museum in King’s Cross. Not the first venue I would have thought of for some spine-tingling experiences. Nevertheless, they promise a ghostly boat trip, a tunnel of fear and creepy storytelling. I can’t wait to meet spirits from the other side as the boat glides through the water in darkness. Sounds right up my street.
